Jingle Bells and the Stock Market

By

I’m writing on Monday morning, March 9, 2020. Is this market okay? How bad can it get? Will it recover? All fair questions. How about some data.  From peak to trough (that means high point to low point) in the 4th quarter of 2018, the Dow was down 5036 points or -18.77%. Culminating with a Christmas Eve capitulation. Can you say Merry Christmas!!

Through Friday, March 6, 2020, from peak to trough, the Dow is down 3686 points or -12.48% during this recent market decline.  For the year, through last Friday, the Dow is down 2673 points or -9.37%.

Does it feel worse this time? Maybe. Is it as bad? Not yet.
